Hayden-Harnett Junya Tambourine Bag

The Hayden-Harnett Fall/Winter 2009 Collection is here and it is now available for pre-order. According to the Hayden-Harnett website, this collection “verges on the mystical and the unsettling.” These unique new designs were inspired by the cultural thinking and religious rituals of the so-called Cargo Cults of remote Pacific islands. The collection consists of dark neutrals and artisan-like details. Hayden-Harnett describes them as “dark, otherworldly, and quirky.”As I glanced over the various pieces that make up the Fall/Winter 2009 Collection, my eyes suddenly became drawn to one bag in particular. Meet the Hayden-Harnett Junya Tambourine Bag. As the name suggests, this cute little crossbody bag resembles a tambourine. The front side of the bag features a slit pocket adorned with totemic hardware and the sides of the bag are adorned with tiny tassels. This bag would be perfect for a fun night out. However, it is definitely meant for someone looking for something with just a touch of quirkiness. This truly is a special piece. So special, in fact, that Hayden-Harnett has dubbed it as part of their Collector’s Edition. Now if only I could figure out where to get that necklace the model is wearing. It would make the perfect companion for this bag.The Hayden-Harnett Junya Tambourine Bag measures 6″ x 6″ x 2″ and it comes complete with a long, crossbody strap. It is currently available in Black/Grape and it retails for $238. Check it out at Hayden-Harnett.P.S. (The Corinne Studded Leather Necklace can be found under the Accessories section. It retails for $148)The Chat: Hayden-Harnett!

Novica: Handbags from Around the World

What handbag collection wouldn’t be complete without something unique? Or perhaps even exotic? Well, how about both? Introducing Novica: an online, fair trade marketplace associated with National Geographic. Their mission is “to give artists and artisans around the world a global platform to express their true artistic talents and to spur their creativity”. They offer everything from home decor to jewelry to artwork. What really grabbed my attention, however, was their new handbag section. They have every shape, size, and style imaginable. Materials used include cotton, wool, silk, leather, beads, and even pop-tops. And the best part is, you don’t have to be interested in hippie-like styles to find something you’ll absolutely love there. The bags are handcrafted by artisans from Bali, Java, Brazil, India, Mexico, and Thailand. I think what I love most about Novica is how they give a name and a face to associate with each piece. Each artist has a story to tell and it’s wonderful to learn a little something about them when you’re considering purchasing one of their works of art. This is definitely a website I suggest you check out! These handbags would certainly make wonderful conversation pieces! Here are a few of my favorites listed below:1. “Moonbeams” ClutchNatural jute with rhinestone beadsArtist: RadhikaPrice: $94.95Gorgeous for a special evening out!2. “Earth Day” Shoulder BagSilkscreen on cottonArtist: Thanyarat SananpanichPrice: $64.99Perfect for use as a shopping tote!3. “Grand Central” HandbagNatural leatherArtist: Ricardo HinojosaPrice: $109.99Elegant and chic!Check out these styles and many, many more at NOVICA – Home Decor, Jewelry & Gifts by Talented Artisans Worldwide! The Chat: Novica!
